Setup guide

Badgely takes about two minutes to set up. Here is every step, plus the reference for badge types, targeting and the 60 languages.

Getting started

Four steps

  1. 1

    Install the app

Add Badgely from the Shopify App Store, or enter your store domain on the home page. Badgely asks only for read access to your products — it never writes to your catalogue or your theme.

  2. 2

    Turn on the theme embed

Open Online Store → Themes → Customise → App embeds, and switch Badgely badges on. Save. This is what draws the badges; without it the app has no effect on your storefront.

  3. 3

    Add your first badges

In the app, press Add 3 recommended badges. You get New arrivals, On sale and Low stock, already targeted at every product and already translated. Open your store and they are there.

  4. 4

    Adjust the look

Open any badge to change its colour, shape, corner, size and case. The preview updates as you type, so you can match your theme before saving.

Choosing which products get a badge

🌐

All products

The badge considers your whole catalogue. Conditional types still apply their own rule, so a Low stock badge only appears where stock is actually low.

🏷️

By tag

Enter one or more product tags. Any product carrying one of them qualifies. Tags are matched without regard to case.

📁

By collection

Enter collection handles — the part of the collection URL after /collections/. Up to 20 collections per product are checked.

Badges refresh when your products change and whenever you press Resync products. A product shows at most three badges at once, in the order you arrange them.

Languages

All 60 languages

Badge text follows your storefront language. If a shopper views your store in Latvian, the badge is in Latvian — nothing to configure. Any wording can be overridden per language in the badge editor.

Troubleshooting

If badges do not appear

I saved a badge but nothing shows in my store

Check the theme embed first: Online Store → Themes → Customise → App embeds → Badgely badges must be on, and the theme must be saved. This accounts for almost every case.

Badges show on collection pages but not on the product page

Open the badge and check Placement — product, collection, search and home are separate switches.

A new product has no badge yet

Badgely updates its index when Shopify notifies it of a product change, which usually takes a few seconds. Press Resync products in the app to force it.

The badge sits in an awkward place on my theme

Change the corner in the badge’s appearance settings. Badgely attaches the badge to the nearest container holding the product image, so unusual card layouts sometimes suit a different corner.

How do I remove Badgely completely?

Switch the theme embed off, or uninstall the app. Both remove every badge immediately — nothing was written into your theme files, so nothing is left behind. Uninstalling also deletes your data from our servers.
